Andy Rollins
Andy came to Robinson Jewelers after spending over 15 years in the jewelry industry doing everything from sales, management, and craftsmanship. It was his multitalented capacity that encouraged Mike Robinson to bring Andy on board.
Andy has spent years in the industry perfecting his craft. In fact, it is Andy’s background and passion for artistry that adds to his unique talents. Because of this skill, Andy is able to craft custom creations from scratch, beginning with a simple hand-drawn sketch. Andy has worked tirelessly over the years to perfect his skills in metalsmithing, laser welding, and stone setting. Andy says that his favorite part of being a jeweler is being involved with the personal story behind each piece of jewelry.
Everyone seems to have their own story of how a piece of jewelry came into their lives. His favorite story came from a woman who received a citrine and pearl ring from her parents as a gift honoring her first job when she was 16 years old. Shortly thereafter, the woman lost her ring on the beach.
She spent the next 45 years searching for the ring, when she finally found a strangely similar one on Ebay. At the last moment she lost the bid for this similar ring and decided to call the seller. Years ago, the woman remembered nervously biting on one of the pearls, leaving a permanent nick in the pearl. When she described the unique marking to the seller, they suddenly realized that they had come across HER ring from her teenage years.
Apparently, the long-lost ring had travelled from New Hampshire to Florida to New Mexico to Washington and back into the original owner’s hands in New Hampshire. What a story! Andy is also known as ―the rock man for his unique passion for gemstones, even in their raw form. To the untrained eye, many rocks may look like… well, rocks.
