A few weeks ago Eleanor came into the store with two loose stones. After thirty years she wanted to mount them in simple settings so she could wear and enjoy them. After about 30 minutes we had chosen two perfect mountings and she was on her way.
Fast forward to yesterday I called Eleanor and let her know that her rings were ready. When she arrived I sat down with her and presented the rings to her. When she saw the london blue topaz ring she just couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. That is when she told me her story. Over 30 years ago Eleanor, her husband, and 9 year old daughter took a trip to the Mountains here in North Carolina. While traveling they stopped at one of the many gem mines to look for gems. She found this blue topaz and had it cut and polished. She told me that they didn’t have a lot of money back then so she brought it home unset. Fast forward 30 years she decided it was time to set her stone and wear it. This stone has been shuffled through different boxes and drawers and holds so much value and memories for eleanor. Talk about a stone with a story!
