Floyd G. Robinson
In 1969, Floyd G. Robinson founded the family-owned and operated jewelry store, Floyd G. Robinson Jewelers. While the store first opened its doors in downtown Ayden, Robinson Jewelers spent most of its early years in downtown Greenville on Evans Street. Floyd founded the store to provide in-house watch and jewelry repair, as well as high end jewelry at reasonable prices. Moreover, Floyd’s main goal from the start was to bring his clients personal service and the highest level of care and precision.
Floyd’s philosophy of attention to detail began with his Navy experience in 1946. After returning from his tour of duty, Floyd began to work in the jewelry industry as a watchmaker in Washington, D.C. After gaining industry knowledge and experience, Floyd returned to eastern North Carolina and eventually took over Staffers Jewelers of Ayden, NC to found the jewelry store that is now Robinson Jewelers. While growing the business, Floyd raised his family in his hometown of Winterville, NC with his wife Chessie. The two were married for 50 years. In 1985, Floyd passed the torch to his son, Mike, who now operates the family business under the same traditions that Floyd began. The values of Floyd G. Robinson can still be seen in the store today through Mike and his son, Justin, as they treat every client with the same care and concern that Floyd did years ago.
