What is Tantalum?
Tantalum is a rare, blue-gray colored, dense earth metal. Tantalum is one of the five major refractory metals in the world and is thus extremely heat and wear resistant.
It is one of the most inert metals known to man. An inert metal is one that does not react with most other chemicals. Where most metals dissolve in acids. Tantalum is not affected. It is also used in many highly unique applications such as jet engines, missile components, space vehicles and medical equipment.
Tantalum VS. Others
Unlike similar colored metals, Tantalum is more ductile and can be stretched. If your finger size changes, tantalum can be adapted to your size needs more readily than any other contemporary metal in the market. Due to the difficult process in attaining tantalum, it is not a material that is readily available. The result of this rarity is a market not saturated with Tantalum jewelry as it is with so many other contemporary metals. Unlike certain other contemporary metals, Tantalum will not shatter.
